Which coast of Mexico has the best beaches?

Depends what you want in the water. The Caribbean (Quintana Roo) has calm, turquoise water and reef snorkeling. The Pacific has surf, sunsets and dramatic scenery, with stronger currents. The Gulf, from Tamaulipas round to Yucatán, is warm, shallow and quiet, with wildlife and small-town malecones.

Every beach in the directory with at least 25 Google reviews is scored with a weighted average that pulls small samples toward the catalogue mean, then sorted. It's a signal of what visitors rate highly, not a site inspection; each listing links to its full page with the details we have.

Are Mexico's beaches safe for tourists?

The established beach towns see millions of visitors a year and are generally fine with ordinary precautions: use official taxis, don't leave valuables on the sand, and check your government's current advisory. The bigger day-to-day risk is the water — Pacific beaches especially can have strong currents, so swim where the flags say you can.

When is the best time to visit Mexico's beaches?

December to April is dry season: warm, sunny and calm, and also peak prices. May and June are hotter but cheaper and quieter. September and October are the height of hurricane season. Sargassum seaweed on the Caribbean side tends to peak between May and August.
